Psychiatric Medication Management
Thoughtful, personalized medication care
—
Medication can be a helpful part of mental health treatment, but finding the right medication—and deciding whether medication is right for you in the first place—deserves more than a quick prescription.
At Palim Health, our psychiatric medication management services are grounded in careful evaluation, collaboration, and individualized care. Our psychiatrist works with you to understand your symptoms, history, goals, and circumstances before developing a treatment plan that fits your needs.
Whether you are considering medication for the first time, wondering if your current medication is still working, or looking for a psychiatrist to help you navigate a more complex treatment history, we aim to make the process informative, collaborative, and approachable.
Our Approach
—
When medication management may be helpful
Psychiatric medication can be considered for a wide range of concerns, including:
Depression and other mood concerns
Anxiety and panic
Obsessive-compulsive symptoms
Bipolar spectrum conditions
Attention and executive functioning concerns
Sleep-related concerns associated with mental health conditions
Mental health concerns associated with major life transitions
Other conditions affecting mood, thinking, behavior, or functioning
A psychiatric evaluation can also be useful when you are not sure what is causing your symptoms or whether medication might be appropriate.
Medication Management That Considers the Whole Person
—
Mental health symptoms rarely exist in isolation. Sleep, relationships, work, physical health, stress, life transitions, and other factors can all influence how you are feeling.
Our approach to psychiatric medication management considers the bigger picture. We take time to understand your experiences and treatment history, discuss the potential benefits and limitations of different options, and help you make informed decisions about your care.
Medication management may include:
Comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and diagnostic clarification
Evaluation of whether medication may be helpful for your concerns
Starting a new psychiatric medication when appropriate
Adjusting existing medications
Monitoring benefits, side effects, and changes in symptoms
Thoughtful consideration of medication interactions and other health factors
Collaborative discussions about continuing, changing, or tapering medications
Coordination with your therapist or other members of your care team when appropriate
Recommended combination
Medication + Psychotherapy
Medication and psychotherapy can work particularly well together. Medication may help reduce symptoms that are making it difficult to function or engage in therapy, while psychotherapy can help you develop new ways of understanding yourself, navigating relationships, and responding to challenges.
When you receive both medication management and therapy through Palim Health, our clinicians can collaborate—with your permission—to create more coordinated and cohesive care.
You do not have to choose between medication and therapy. For many people, they can be complementary parts of a larger treatment plan. Your provider can help you determine if one or both may be helpful.
A Collaborative Approach to Psychiatric Care

Starting or changing psychiatric medication can bring up a lot of questions:
⌘
Will this change who I am?
☰
How long will it take to work?
❋
What are the side effects?
※
What if I don't like it?
We want you to feel comfortable asking these questions.
Our team will explain treatment options in clear, accessible language and work with you to weigh potential benefits, risks, alternatives, and your personal preferences. We view medication management as an ongoing conversation—not simply a series of prescriptions.
What to expect
Your first appointment will focus on understanding what brings you to treatment. We will review your current symptoms, mental health and medical history, previous treatment experiences, medications and supplements, and your goals for care.
If medication is recommended, we will discuss the rationale and what you can expect, including potential benefits, side effects, and other considerations. Follow-up appointments provide an opportunity to assess how things are going and make adjustments when needed.
Treatment does not have to be rushed. We prioritize careful decision-making and finding an approach that feels sustainable for you.
Supporting service
Psychological Assessment
Some individuals benefit from a more comprehensive understanding of their emotional and interpersonal functioning before or during treatment.
At Palim Health, psychological assessment can be used as a supporting service to help clarify diagnoses, better understand patterns of functioning, and guide treatment. Our approach is thoughtful and individualized, with attention not only to symptoms and test results, but also to your history, relationships, environment, and lived experience.
Supporting service
Group Therapy
DBT Skills Group can complement psychiatric medication management, individual therapy, or other mental health treatment. Learning skills in group can provide additional opportunities to practice what you are working on in individual treatment and develop a shared language with your therapist or other members of your care team.
DBT is about more than simply getting through difficult moments. It is also about building a life that feels meaningful, connected, and consistent with what matters to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need medication?
Not necessarily.
We believe medication should be considered thoughtfully rather than automatically. For some people, medication can provide meaningful relief and make it easier to engage in therapy and everyday life. For others, psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, or other approaches may be more appropriate.
How often will I need to see a psychiatrist?
The frequency of appointments depends on your individual needs and where you are in treatment. Appointments may be more frequent when starting or changing medication and may become less frequent once your treatment is stable.
Can you help if I am already taking psychiatric medication?
Yes. Medication management can include reviewing your current medications, assessing how well they are working, discussing side effects or concerns, and considering whether adjustments may be appropriate.
Treatment philosophy
You deserve psychiatric care that feels collaborative
—
There is no single medication—or single approach to mental health treatment—that works for everyone.
We believe good psychiatric care starts with curiosity, careful listening, and a willingness to understand the person behind the symptoms. Our goal is to help you make informed decisions about medication while keeping your larger well-being at the center of treatment.
