Our DBT services
Individual DBT
—
Individual DBT provides a collaborative, structured space to apply DBT skills to the challenges of everyday life.
Together with your therapist, you'll work to understand patterns that may be keeping you stuck, reduce behaviors that interfere with your goals, strengthen motivation for change, and develop practical strategies for regulating difficult emotions.
DBT balances acceptance with change — helping you build self-understanding and compassion while learning new ways to cope, communicate effectively, navigate relationships, and create a life that feels meaningful. Individual DBT also provides an opportunity to troubleshoot obstacles, celebrate progress, and ensure the skills you learn translate into lasting, real-world change.
Recommended combination
Individual DBT + Skills Group
Individual therapy
You focus on your unique goals, challenges, and life circumstances, working with your therapist to apply DBT strategies to real situations.Skills group
You systematically learn and practice the core DBT skills alongside others in a supportive, structured environment — a bit like taking a class.
This combination is well researched and documented as leading to greater confidence implementing skills, more consistent use of skills, and more lasting change than either approach alone.

DBT Skills Group
—
DBT Skills Group teaches the four core skill modules. Group members learn practical strategies, practice applying new skills, and receive support from others working toward similar goals. Skills groups are appropriate for many individuals, whether or not they are also participating in individual DBT.

Our DBT services
DBT-informed family and couples therapy
—
Relationships play an important role in emotional well-being. These services can support an individual's DBT treatment — and they also stand strongly on their own.
-
DBT-informed family therapy can be a valuable addition to an individual's DBT treatment, helping family members better understand the skills being learned, improve communication, and create an environment that supports lasting change.
It can also be an effective standalone intervention for families experiencing frequent conflict, emotional intensity, communication difficulties, or challenges navigating a loved one's mental health concerns. Compared to many traditional forms of family therapy, DBT-informed family therapy is often more structured, active, and skills-based.
Sessions focus on practical tools for validation, emotion regulation, problem-solving, boundary setting, and navigating difficult conversations while balancing acceptance with meaningful change. The goal is not only to improve relationships, but to equip families with concrete strategies they can continue using long after therapy ends.
-
Healthy relationships require more than love — they require skills. DBT-informed couples therapy helps partners strengthen communication, manage conflict more effectively, navigate intense emotions, and deepen understanding of one another.
For individuals participating in DBT, couples therapy can reinforce treatment by helping partners understand DBT principles, supporting skill use outside of sessions, and increasing collaboration toward shared goals.
It is also an excellent standalone treatment for couples who want a more structured, practical, goal-oriented approach than traditional talk therapy. Sessions emphasize learning and practicing skills such as validation, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and effective communication. Rather than repeatedly revisiting the same conflicts, couples learn concrete strategies for responding differently, breaking unhelpful patterns, and building healthier, more satisfying relationships.
Supporting service
Psychological Assessment
Some individuals benefit from a more comprehensive understanding of their emotional and interpersonal functioning before or during treatment.
We offer personality-focused psychological assessments that provide an in-depth understanding of longstanding patterns of emotions, relationships, coping, and personality functioning. These evaluations can help clarify diagnoses, identify treatment priorities, and determine whether DBT or another therapeutic approach may be the best fit.
Supporting service
Medication as Part of Comprehensive Care
While there is no medication that specifically treats emotion dysregulation or Borderline Personality Disorder, medications may be helpful for co-occurring conditions such as depression or anxiety.
Our psychiatrists work collaboratively with clients and therapists to determine whether medication may be a helpful part of treatment. When appropriate, medication management is integrated with DBT to support progress toward each person's goals while maintaining a strong emphasis on learning the skills that lead to lasting change.
Treatment philosophy
DBT is much more than learning coping skills
—
It is a treatment built on the belief that people are doing the best they can while also having the capacity to grow and change. We strive to create a therapeutic relationship characterized by compassion, collaboration, accountability, and hope.
Our clinicians integrate DBT with other evidence-based approaches when appropriate, ensuring treatment is individualized while remaining grounded in the principles that make DBT effective.
